About Us

The Australian Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages in the Northern Territory (ATESOL NT) members work within a range of contexts including school education, adult new arrival prgrams, English Languages Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS), tertiary studies and research programs.

ATESOL aims to support all teachers and learners of English as an additional language/dialect within the NT by:

  • Representing and supporting teachers involved in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
  • Providing opportunities of professional development to all teachers in the Northern Territory on topics relevant to both migrant and Indigenous education
  • Providing a network for teachers in all localities to be able to share ideas and communicate with each other
  • Providing a national network through the Australian Council of TESOL Associations (ACTA)

They offer workshops and seminars which cater for all professionals working in the TESOL field and welcome mainstream teachers with English as a Second Language (ESL) students.
