Mission

To guide, support and lead professional teaching associations throughout the Northern Territory to build their capacity and improve educator quality.

 Goals

1.       Support member associations to provide professional support and development opportunities to NT teachers

·         Provide grants to member associations

·         Arrange a study tour every second year

·         Organise a Festival of Teaching every second year

·         Facilitate professional learning opportunities and events

2.       Support member associations to ensure the NT legislative requirements of associations are met

·         Member Associations

·         Department of Business

3.       Work strategically with stakeholders, sponsors and other organisations who have a vested interest in providing quality education services in the Territory

·         Australian Professional Teachers Association (APTA)

·         Teacher Registration Board (TRB)

·         Department of Education (DoE)

·         Charles Darwin University (CDU)

·         Non-Government Schools

4.       PTANT will actively communicate and promote its work and the work of member Associations

·         Promotion

·         Communication

·         Development tour for the Executive Officer

5.       Support, advocate and celebrate the work of Member Associations

·         Participate in Special Features, ie. NT News

·         PTANT Awards every second year

·         APTA Awards

·         Provide online promotion for Member Associations

·         Publish a PTANT quarterly newsletter

The PTANT Strategic Plan supports the Education NT Strategy 2018-2022 Quality Teaching, where students and teachers are engaged in learning.  

PTANT supports DoE in enhancing the capability of teachers and educational leaders to use data, evidence and evaluation to inform planning and practice and continuous improvement in our schools to maximise student outcomes.
